LED CABINETS

Cabinets, or LED screen frames, are the modular units on which a LED screen is assembled. Most LED screens are large or even gigantic, so it stands to reason that the most convenient method to assemble them is to divide the screen into smaller cabinets. When these cabinets are combined, we get the full surface of the screen. These cabinets vary in size, building materials and customization depending on the type of LED screen that you want to assemble.

MAINTENANCE ACCESS TO THE CABINET

LED screen cabinets are engineered to make things simple, so it is easier to run the maintenance of the internal components. Depending on the type of LED screen, the access is either on the front or the back of the unit.

Rear maintenance cabinet: rear maintenance cabinets usually have doors on the backside of the screen. For the sake of comfort, the rear side of the unit should be easily accessible, with enough space for the operator to open the cabinet and take out the modules.

Front maintenance cabinet: on this type of cabinet, the LED modules are removed from the front of the screen. This is especially useful for wall installations or when the back of the screen cannot be accessed to tweak the internal components.

MANUFACTURING MATERIALS OF CABINETS LED

Cabinets can be manufactured from different materials depending on what the screen will be used for. The most common materials are:

Steel: resistant and fully customizable, it is usually used in fixed installation screens both indoors and outdoors. This material is the most popular for conventional outdoor screens. The steel if further treated   with special paints to prevent corrosion.

Aluminium: aluminium cabinets tend to be used on mobile installations since the reduced weight of the screen makes it easier to move it around. While it is possible to build fixed installation screens in aluminium for indoor and outdoor use it is not recommended due to its high price. Aluminum screens are quite popular for events and fairs.

Plastic or Resins composite:  used in mobile installations when the brightness of the screen is critical. Since it is a new technology, not only is it used by very few manufacturers but the effect of extended contact with corrosives and weather conditions is unknown. (Bad quality plastics can crack and weaken rather easily). Their main advantage is their reduced weight, compared to aluminium and iron, but since it is a rarely used material the price is quite steep.

FAST-ASSEMBLING AND DISASSEMBLING CABINETS FOR ITINERANT USE

LED screens of all types and sizes have been gaining ground in events or exhibitions. They have to be light, easy to transport and to assemble. Therefore, these screens are designed with lightweight materials and have quick-assembly mechanisms. This type of cabinet has pre-established sizes and cannot be customized as they are made with mould extruded aluminum. This type of cabinet is the most expensive due to the complexity in their manufacturing process.

PERSONALIZED CABINETS
While most Cabinets are already manufactured at pre-established sizes the user has to work with, some professional manufacturers offer the possibility of manufacturing LED screens in customized sizes. This process requires slightly longer manufacturing and delivery times, since it is necessary to adapt and design the cabinets to the requested size. The great advantage offered by this customization is that the total size of the screen will adapt perfectly to the required installation, thus achieving a greater surface area.

LED CABINET TYPES AND USES

FIXED CABINETS FOR OUTDOOR INSTALLATIONS

FIXED CABINETS FOR OUTDOOR INSTALLATIONS
LED screens placed in outdoor areas need cabinets designed to withstand all kinds of weather conditions. As such, the materials and design must be ready for the worst the weather can throw at it. There are a variety of designs; but the most common (and the best investment for such cases) are double back door designs. Their simple assembly and strong resistance in outdoor conditions have made them a standard. On the negative side, weather resistant materials tend to be heavier, so the average weight for these unit sits around 40-54Kg / m2.

FIXED CABINETS FOR INDOOR INSTALLATIONS
This type of cabinet is used in indoor areas, so one doesn’t have to worry about the weather; as such the walls of the cabinet tend to be thinner and have more openings. The weight for these units is around 20-35Kg / m2 on average. Their cheaper price makes them the ideal cabinet for indoor LED screens in stores and shops.

CABINETS FOR EXTERNAL FACADES
This type of cabinet is designed for outdoor screens placed on walls or facades, its special design makes it easier to assemble on a wall. This type of cabinet uses front access. Otherwise, you would need to take down the screen for maintenance. This type of cabinet is lighter and has better linkage systems when compared to other models. Due to all this, they tend to be costly.
